About Me

Before I tell you a bit about me, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Joe and Jennifer because without these two marvelous people I’d never be on this healing path. Thank you to Jennifer Stano, Reiki Master Teacher, for her expansive teachings and boundless caring.

A heartfelt special thanks to Joe, my life partner, whose compassion and support as well as a healthy dose of innate scientific skepticism has kept me reaching for the stars and grounded here on earth

I have been passionate about alternative healing and metaphysical practices for a short time. I first began learning about some of these practices including herbalism, crystals, astrology, homeopathy and energy healing in 2021. In 2025 I decided to enroll in a Reiki healing class in Mendota Heights MN, where I was led to a Reiki Master (Jennifer Stano) who was teaching classes in the area. It was at this time that I received my first- and second-degree Reiki Certification in the spring of 2025, and my Master Certification in July of 2025. I continue on expanding my knowledge of alternative healing and have enrolled in a class of Biofield tunning in the fall of 2025.

It was during this time that I had intuitive glimpses into my far-off future. I dreamt of having a Reiki practice that would combine all the knowledge and wisdom that I began learning and have continued to learn over the course of the past few years.

I can honestly say that it feels wonderful to be living my dream, to be so passionate about what I am doing, and what I have to offer my clients and the world around me. I am eager to share that positive energy and light with the world and make a difference in my own unique way.

It is a joy to look back at how far I have come since my dream began in 2021. My goal is to empower everyone I work with to feel good in their lives, to feel confident, healthy, strong and feel that they too are living a life of their dreams, a life they can feel fulfilled and passionate about!

I’ve worked with people of all ages, genders, ethnicities, spiritual beliefs, economic backgrounds and professions, as a nurse and I look forward to working with you, whoever your wonderful self may be!

Thank you

Rodney Michaels

What is Reiki?

Reiki has roots in ancient Japanese healing practices and is considered a form of energy healing. It stems from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning vital life force energy.

The theory is that a Reiki master (a practitioner trained in Reiki) can channel the “universal life force energy” to you. They say they do this by either lightly placing their hands on you or by hovering them just above you, using a series of hand positions. Some people will call these techniques:

  • Centering
  • Clearing
  • Beaming
  • Smoothing the aura

Reiki masters say they don’t create energy or give their energy to you. Rather, they say they act as a “conduit” for the universal life force energy that exists around us.

Now, let’s back up this train a moment. Because the idea of a universal life force energy isn’t a concept, we’re all familiar with. And it’s not something that scientists agree even exists.

Universal life force energy

The practice of Reiki relies on the existence of universal life force energy.

Reiki master Rodney Michaels shares in his view, we all have energy that flows through us.

“Think about sitting in a room alone,” “Your partner walks into the room without you knowing it. They don’t make a sound, but you can feel they’re there. That’s their energy.”

Cultures around the world have similar philosophies dating back centuries. Traditional Chinese medicine has the concept of qi, a vital life force energy that flows through living things. Indian philosophy offers the concept of prana, a life-giving energy force that flows through your chakras.

But scientifically speaking, there’s no hard data to suggest that any form of healing energy exists.

“Proponents of Reiki describe that the mechanism by which it works is the transmission of a ‘universal life force energy.’ I don't know what ‘universal life force energy’ is. Nor is there any evidence of such being involved in Reiki,” shares wellness and preventive medicine specialist Robert Saper, MD, MPH.

It could be that modern scientific understanding doesn’t yet have the tools or methods to identify something like universal life force energy. Maybe it’s something like dark matter. We think it’s out there. We have reason to believe in it. We just haven’t yet found a way to prove it.

Or maybe it doesn’t exist. And that would mean that the entire foundation on which Reiki is built would be shaky at best.

Potential health benefits of Reiki

People turn to Reiki and other energy-healing practices for all kinds of reasons. The idea driving Reiki is that channeling the universal life force energy and encouraging its movement through your body can help to create a healthier environment within your body and mind.

That’s supposed to lead to a range of health benefits. Because the theory goes, “stuck energy” can lead to pain and illness.

Essentially, people use Reiki to get their energy juices flowing. And fans of the practice say it can help with things like:

  • Better sleep
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Boosted mood
  • Reduced pain
  • Increased energy
  • Improved blood circulation

What happens during a Reiki session

While most people feel the effects of reiki right away, others may feel the impacts after their session. Common feelings include tingling, warmth, and deep relaxation. (You may even fall asleep because you become so relaxed and wake up from your session with a new sense of awareness, clarity, and/or connection.) Some say they feel as though a hand is touching a part of their body, when, in fact, it is not.

Each person is very different in how they feel and experience the reiki energy. This practice will also continue to shift and change and feel slightly different every time, similar to a meditation. Trust that your experience is exactly what it needs to be on that day.

What might I experience?

The experience of Reiki is subjective, changeable, and sometimes very subtle. People often experience heat in the practitioner's hands, but sometimes the practitioner's hands feel refreshingly cool. Other common experiences are subtle pulsations where the practitioner's hands are placed or cascading waves of pulsations throughout the body.

People often comment how comforting they find the experience of Reiki to be. An interesting study reported that recipients frequently feel that they are hovering in a threshold state of consciousness, simultaneously aware of their surroundings and deeply indrawn. Some people fall into a deep, sleeplike meditative state. Sometimes the experience of Reiki is dramatic, while for other people, the first session in particular may be uneventful, although they feel somehow better afterward. The most common experience is an almost immediate release of stress and a feeling of deep relaxation.

Reiki is cumulative and even people who don't notice much the first time usually have progressively deeper experiences if they continue. Besides the immediate experience of the Reiki, you may notice other changes that continue to unfold as the day goes on: perhaps stronger digestion, a sense of being more centered and poised and less reactive and sleeping deeply that night.

What does the session consist of?

Most commonly, Reiki is offered through light, non-invasive touch with the practitioner's hands placed and held on a series of locations on the head and front and back of the torso. The placement of the hands should never be intrusive or inappropriate, nor should there be any pressure.

Additional placements on the limbs can be done as needed (for example, if there is an injury or surgical scar), and some practitioners routinely do so. The Reiki practitioner can hold her hands just off the body if needed (for example, in the presence of an open wound or burn), and some practitioners always offer Reiki in this way.

"Sacred Hands Healing has truly transformed my well-being. The reiki sessions are deeply relaxing, and I always leave feeling rejuvenated and balanced."
